This is the second source-only release for those who had problems compiling Apollo.
The configure.sh script has been improved with regards to KDE2 detection and
the install.sh script installs apollo-client properly.
Now also compiles with gcc 3, thanks to Hannes Mehnert of Gentoo Linux.

Again, the long overdue version 1.4 is released! Enjoy!
New features include playfirst and continue here for advanced playlist handling,
remote control similar to the XMMS protocol (client program is included),
id3 tag v1 and v2 reading,
playlist looping, random mode
and playlist searching.
This will be the last version which uses mpg123 for playing music, the next version will use an internal
audio system for playback.

We're looking for a webmaster for these pages;
the apollloplayer.org domain. You need to know HTML and PHP and knowing
databases wouldn't hurt ;-) We already have a simple PHP backend
custom-written for this site. You could either install that one, maybe
continue developing it, choose a different one that's already out there
etc. It's pretty much up to you.
Please contact me if
you're interested.

Apollo 1.0 was selected as "Editor's Pick" at SoftLandIndia! We can, however, do better. Apollo 1.1pre is currently in CVS and is going through the final testing stage. Stay tuned!

Apollo 1.0 is out! You can grab it as binary or source in either .gz, .bz2, or
RPM format. Go to the downloads page now:
http://download.apolloplayer.org
Enjoy, and let us know what you think of it.
While we have your attention: We need a webmaster for this site. More specifically,
we need a PHP programmer to write a backend. If you think you're capable, drop
us a line.

Updated the screen shot.
A week after the feature freeze, Apollo 1.0 is now considered complete in
terms of implementation. Although Apollo has been extensively tested
already, we will hold it back a little longer just to make sure we didn't
overlook anything.

The screen shot has been updated. In addition, a screen shot of the
original Apollo for Windows has been put up so you can compare if you
wish to.
The Apollo development is going ahead rapidly. A feature freeze will be
introduced on Sunday, the 3rd of December, 23:59 in preparation for
the 1.0 release of Apollo. Apollo is fully usable and stable so
only minor polishing is likely to be done. Unfortunately, the
SourceForge statistics are not working, so you won't be able to
see all the effort that has been put into Apollo.
Apollo 1.0 should be out Real Soon Now :-) Check back here often,
or better yet, subscribe to the
announcement mailing list.

Apollo player now has its own domain:
www.apolloplayer.org.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I think this may be a problem with
SourceForge. Also, a screen shot is up. Click on the link in the top right
corner.

For the impatient, the source code is now in CVS. It requires
Qt 2.2.1
(or later) and mpg123.
If this doesn't say you anything, don't worry: Apollo is not really
usable yet. We will make an official, easy-to-download,
easy-to-install version available when it is usable. You can be
notified about Apollo releases by joining the
announcement
mailing list.

Welcome to the Apollo home page! Apollo is a no-bullshit music player
providing you with what you really need. A minimalistic, functional,
playlist oriented interface is the core of Apollo. Currently, Apollo is
only a frontend to mpg123, but this may
change in the future.
